Day 12 — Days Like This — 40 Days of Writing, Fall Session 2014

I had a very enjoyable brunch with girlfriends today. We were having a belated birthday celebration for our friend Yolanda at a trendy fun place in North Park. I don’t see these close girlfriends often enough, as we all lead busy lives, so when we do get together it is always enjoyable to catch up.

After wards I met Chuck briefly at his favorite spot in our neighborhood, had a beer, then headed home while he finished watching the Bears game.

Now I am watching the rest of Something’s Gotta Give (which I DVRed the other day). I am also feeling a sense of melancholy that this is the last day of my vacation. Tomorrow it’s up at 3:30 a.m., and off to my job at the radio station. A good job, one in which I enjoy most of the people, and the work itself isn’t all that difficult. But it’s just the idea of not being able to sleep in and do my own thing that brings me down a bit.

So I am keeping Day 12 relatively short, enjoying what is left of my day off.

I know this lackluster piece seems more like a diary entry than anything else, but there will days like this.
