Day 13 — Sometimes Life Just Gets in the Way — 40 Days of Writing, Fall Session 2014

It’s been a long day. I worked my morning shift, then we had a mandatory department meeting which turned out to be very profound and remedial (I will go into detail another day).

After that I had a session with my psychologist, in which I talked mostly about the department meeting.

After my therapy session I ventured over to T-Mobile to have the salesperson who sold us our cellphones on Saturday help me get all my phone contacts transferred from my old phone (something I thought we had done, but apparently it didn’t happen), plus explain a few other tricks to me (I always feel so stupid when it comes to electronics).

I can’t possibly get through my afternoon shift without my usual midday nap, so guess what I did once I got home (after checking email and playing a couple Facebook games)?

Work from 3:00 – 6:30, then home, where our “Fish Guy” who tends to our saltwater aquarium was busy cleaning the tank. I immediately set about to making dinner — so we can eat before 7:30 — but it strikes me funny how every time Fish Guy visits (every other week) I am making some sort of fish dish for dinner; tonight it was Sole Almondine.

We watched a DVRed episode of The Mindy Project while we ate dinner, then Chuck wanted to launch right into the DVRed episode (jeez, already I have used the term DVRed in at least 3 of my “40 Days” entries this round — what gives?) of the season premiere of The Walking Dead  which I really want to watch, but I told him I have yet to write my blog for the day. I told him I would need just 30 minutes.

So, that said, sated with Sole Almondine and parmesan roasted asparagus, plus Day 13 under my belt, I am going to pour myself another glass of wine (switching from chardonnay to cabernet) and settle in for the rest of the evening.

Yes, sometimes life gets in the way of a really good writing project. Other times that’s all you have to write about — Life.
