What is it about early evening that I enjoy so much during the week? It’s not just that my workday is over; it’s that family time is officially here. As I sit here surrounded by dogs, a glass of Robert Hall Cabernet (I love any red out of Paso Robles) at my side, computer propped on a pillow on my lap, it is one of those moments when a wave of bliss and gratitude washes over me.
Chuck is upstairs, catching up on DVRed shows — the ones I don’t care that much about, like Big Bang Theory, New Girl, Portlandia and Mindy — while eating leftover Easter lamb and potatoes au gratin. I have a variety of smooth jazz CDs playing, while leftover fried calamari strips are heating up in the toaster oven for my dinner.
After I am done writing I will more than likely either grab a magazine (from my 10 subscriptions) and read for a bit, or I may meander upstairs to see where Chuck is at with his shows, and maybe we’ll watch something DVRed that we both enjoy — Modern Family, The Middle, Brooklyn Nine-Nine or maybe something else. Good chance I will manage to do both sometime this evening.
It’s a good night. Goodnight.
