And it sucks.
My boss, Mike V., is fun-loving, smart, fair, approachable and okay, I’ll say it, easy on the eyes.
He also changed my life over two years ago when he brought me into this company.
“I have been a fan of yours for a long time, ” he told me via email, then later at the actual interview.
Once I came on board, he would dance with glee, “We got the best traffic reporter, yeah!”
A larger company is buying us, so we knew there would be cut-backs. but Mike has been with this company for about 15 years, so silly me, I thought he would be around forever.
Needless to say, I was wrong. When I got the email today, I immediately texted Mike with my condolences. He promptly responded back with,
“You’re too sweet, but I’m going to be just fine. God has a plan for me, and I’m extremely excited to find out what that plan is. Please don’t let this be a distraction. You’re an amazing talent and most importantly, an amazing person! Don’t stop being your very best and all of your dreams will come true. Love you lots.”
I trust he’ll be fine, but I will still miss him.
