Day One – Brunch with Friends – 40 Days of Writing, Fall 2015

back around 2007.

I read once that knowing you’re going to do something fun with friends later that day can brighten your whole outlook. It puts a certain spring into your step, zeal in your heart and mind, and just adds that wonderful sense of anticipation.

I know this first hand, time and time again. Today I am having brunch with four of my closest friends at Cafe Bleu, to celebrate my 55th birthday that is coming up in two days. Although the girls always make a point of celebrating each others’ birthdays, it is always a special occasion in itself just to have all of us together.

So I will keep this relatively short, as we have a 10:30 a.m. reservation. There will be bottomless mimosas and delicious food — this place, as all French places should, has a cheese board — and great conversation and laughter.

Horrible things are going on in the world right now; even more reason to seek out joy as much as we can.
