“It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, and already Christmas music in the stores!” “What the hell? It’s not even Halloween yet, and Costco already has Christmas stuff out!” People seem to get so angry.
Walking my dog Griffin this evening I notice down the street colorful twinkling Christmas lights adorning a house and it’s landscaping. As we walk closer I see a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the window. It brings me joy. It’s four days before Thanksgiving, but the people who live there chose to decorate a little early. I don’t know them, but I am pretty sure they did it because it brings them joy. I wanted to thank them for sharing that joy.
The world is a crazy place right now. People are looking for joy wherever, whenever and however they can find it. Getting a jump on the holidays isn’t hurting anyone. That, and we really can’t control other people or businesses, so rather than getting all bent out of shape when the signs of Christmas come earlier than you feel is right either learn to accept it and go with the flow, or look the other way. If it’s a business, then don’t shop there; the patrons and employees won’t miss your grouchy face and negative comments.
Bring on the Christmas decorations, music and lights. I am ready for a big dose of joy; I believe deep down that we all are.
